Captions unveils AI Creator, an avatar tool for talking videos and social media

Captions, an AI-powered creative studio downloaded with more than 10 million users, unveiled AI Creator, a three-dimensional avatar designed for producing talking videos on social media. AI Creator enables users to cast a hyper-realistic avatar as the subject of their video but also customize production elements such as camera angles, lighting, clothing, and background. Designed to enable anyone, anywhere to tell a story with video, AI Creator is reinventing the video creation process entirely by removing the need for on-camera appearances.
“It has become clear to us that not everyone who wants to create content also wants to be on camera,” said Gaurav Misra, co-founder and CEO of Captions. “Since our mission has always been to empower anyone to effectively communicate their stories through video, launching AI Creator feels like the natural next step. Now, not only can users record and edit their talking videos with Captions, but generate a talking video entirely on Captions as well.”
AI Creator features a diverse collection of avatars styled for social media. The Captions team has identified core stylistic attributes that contribute to the success of short-form videos and has incorporated these findings into visual aspects like clothing and backgrounds, the company said. Captions’ initial collection of AI avatars is now available to users with the Captions Max subscription. The team plans to regularly launch new avatars and enhance customization options, like lighting and camera angles, based on customer feedback. AI Creator currently supports 28 languages, including French, Hindi, Japanese, and Spanish.
In addition to AI Creator, Captions has also recently announced several other generative AI products, including AI Creator Ads, which are currently available on desktop and web. AI Creator Ads enable users to instantly produce a collection of talking-head style ads simply by pasting in the link to a product. This feature offers a selection of avatars styled to emulate organic, user-generated content, and will also include creators from the Captions community, as Captions recently announced the AI Creator Program, the company claims.
